Marks and Spencer Now Have an Opticians

Great news for anyone who wears glasses – or even for those who just want to take a high-quality vision test. Marks & Spencer in Manchester has opened its doors to one of its first in-store opticians, making it a one-stop destination for everything you need.

Marks and Spencer’s opticians are located on the first floor of the Manchester department store, near Manchester Arndale, Selfridges and Deansgate.

It was officially launched at the end of August by the mayor, councilor June Hitchen, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the store. The opening attracted locals to gather and watch the party in store with great excitement, including discount coupons for glasses and free vision tests.

As an eyeglass wearer and contact lens enthusiast myself, until the end of September I had no idea that M&s now had its own optician at home. So I decided to take a look at the new 700 m2 closet located next to the cafe in the beautiful shop. The Optician’s Manchester opening was one of the first five new opticians in the store to open.

I came down last month and signed up for a vision test which was definitely due because my last two years have passed! The room looks really high quality – quite clinical, white and minimalist, but with a heat and friendly atmosphere.

They offer a range of optical and eye health services to private and NHS clients, including vision tests, contact lens advice and free trials, men’s, women’s and children’s glasses, as well as leading designer brands and prescription sunglasses.

My eye test started with a series of eye health tests that checked the general health of my eye and also examined the back (which I never think about). After scanning and checking my eyes, I had my complete Routine vision test, which was extremely thorough. The optometrist told me about my previous recipe, then made comparisons with what he saw this time.

Fortunately, my right eye had only changed slightly, so there was no reason to worry. And my eyes were perfectly healthy-hooray! Then it was better to choose a pair of frames, where one of the helpful assistants guided me and gave me his advice if necessary. I almost opted for these until me and the assistant fixed their eyes on an ugly pair of Vera Wang Dark Frames and the others were soon rejected (not literally – carefully put them back on the support!.
